Mel will lead this creative space, inviting ECHO patrons to make bush crowns and shell crafts.
This space will also have arts and crafts handmade by Tasmanian Aboriginal Artists available for sale.
Melissa West
Melissa West is a proud Pakana woman with three amazing children and one gorgeous granddaughter. She is a shell stringer, and for her, this traditional practice is an important way to connect with her Ancestors.
Mel is a guide on the awards winning Wukalina Walk and considers herself fortunate to have spent most of her life on Country, particularly the Northeast coast, learning from and listening to her Elders, family and community. It is very important to Mel that cultural knowledge is passed onto future generations.
