Woodworking: Make you own ECHO memento using rare underwater Tasmanian Hydrowood Timbers

In keeping with our 2026 theme of ‘Layers: Woven in Time’, you will make your very own memento to take home, made from beautiful and rare, layered timbers provided by Tasmanian Hydrowood Timber.

Guided by the women woodworkers you will use traditional hand tools to shape and customise your piece. Over the 50-minute workshop, you’ll learn to master tools and be ready to take home!

We have partnered with Tasmanian Hyrdowood Timber to provide an environmentally friendly specialty Tasmanian timber for ECHO 2026.

Most of the rare timber species that Hydrowood harvests are in short supply and almost never found as intact logs. And they certainly don’t come with such a unique story.

Wood that craftsmen and master builders dream of working with. Wood with a story to tell, a character like no other and in quantities thought never to be seen again.
